Knights third at section true team

Irondale finished in third place at the Section 5AA true team swimming and diving meet on Jan. 21 at Maple Grove Junior High School. Irondale finished behind host and perennial powerhouse Maple Grove and North Suburban Conference foe Spring Lake Park.

MVHS downs Cretin-Derham Hall

The Mustangs hosted the Cretin-Derham Hall Raiders at the Chippewa Middle School pool on Jan. 20 and came away with an easy 56-42 win. The Mustangs did it by winning 11 of 12 events, including all three relays, and completing a 1-2 sweep in seven of the events on the program.

Mustangs earn wild card berth for true team state

The Mounds View High School boys swimming and diving team swam to a second-place finish in the Section 4AA true team meet on Jan. 22 in Stillwater. The Mustangs tallied 1,023 points in the meet, finishing behind winner Stillwater's 1,106 points.

Things were different then

Before World War II the majority of Americans lived on farms. Children worked with their parents six days per week when not in school. Most of rural America did not have electricity or running water. This meant that they fed and watered livestock seven mornings and evenings every week.
