Bulletin area athletes sign to colleges


Mounds View High School seniors Jackie Gaworski, Ryan Nickel and Natalie Nowatzke recently signed their letters of intent to attend and compete athletically in college starting in 2017.

High school seniors are allowed to make official their commitment to a future college team starting in early November. Five Bulletin-area residents recently put pen to paper to sign letters of intent.

After winning only two of its first 14 games a season ago, the St. Anthony Village High School girls basketball team went 8-3 over its final 11 regular-season games.

With a young lineup, the Mounds View High School girls basketball team struggled after a fast start to the season a year ago. A good number of those players are back this season and that has the Mustangs looking for a turnaround.

New Brighton tree moves to St. Paul for the holidays

An evergreen came down in New Brighton Nov. 19, but it didn’t stay down for long. The 33-year-old tree was hauled 15 miles southeast to downtown St.

Racist message found at Irondale High School


This tile was found outside a basement classroom at Irondale High School in New Brighton Nov. 11. According to the Mounds View school district, student responsible received “strong, swift disciplinary action.”

Students entering a basement classroom at New Brighton’s Irondale High School found a small wooden tile with a message that read: “The KKK wants you.”
