Earl Robert Ireland, age 80, of Roseville, died Oct. 7 from complications related to Alzheimer's disease. He was born in St. Paul on March 11, 1934 and spent his childhood in Onamia, Minn. Upon graduation from high school, Earl moved to the Twin Cities to attend Hamline University, completing a degree in education and receiving a Masters degree from the University of Minnesota. Earl served six years in the U.S. Army Reserves. His professional career was devoted to the Roseville school district, teaching senior high school students mathematics and coaching football, swimming and baseball. Earl married Sue (Sanders) in 1959 and they had two children, Mike and Kathy (Waite).

Earl was a man of generous faith, serving Presbyterian Church of the Way as an ordained elder, teaching Sunday school and serving on many commissions.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Sr. and Olga, and his sister Dorothea (Del Wise).

He is survived by his wife, Sue; their two children, Mike (Susan) and Kathy (Jeff Waite); Earl's sister Janice (Jim Baker); two granddaughters; two step-grand daughters; and two great step-grandsons.

A visitation was held on Oct. 15 at Roseville Memorial Chapel. A visitation was also held on Oct.16 at Presbyterian Church of the Way, followed with a memorial service.
