The Minnesota State High School League established the Triple “A” award to recognize and honor high school seniors who have excelled in the classroom, on the athletic field and in fine arts. This year’s Triple “A” honorees from Irondale High School are Danielle Franke and Brett Burbank.

Franke has been involved athletically in cross country and lacrosse and also participated in chamber orchestra. Burbank has been on the Knights’ football, boys swimming and diving and baseball teams while also participating in choir.

Each member school nominates one male and one female who must be seniors who have a grade-point average of at least 3.0 and participate in MSHSL-sponsored athletics and fine arts activities.

A male and female winner from each administrative region are selected as finalists and the four winners — a girl and a boy from both a Class A and Class AA school — receive a four-year, $1,000 scholarship.

This year’s Class A winners came from Murray County Central, Win-E-Mac while the Class AA honorees were from Brainerd and Willmar. All four were honored during the boys basketball state tournament earlier this month.
