Rosetown legion coach earns honor

The Fourth District American Legion baseball banquet took place on July 26 and one of the awards handed out that night went to Rosetown.

First-year Rosetown head coach Tyler Heitmann was named the Fourth District coach of the year. He guided the Rockets to district record of 8-6, which was good enough for a fourth-place finish in the standings.

Heitmann led Rosetown to its best record and highest district finish since 2010. The Rockets went 10-5 and finished third that year.

Heitmann, a native of Baldwin, Wisconsin, wrapped up a four-year college baseball career earlier this year. Heitmann pitched four seasons for Bethel University and compiled a record of 17-9. His best season was his junior year when he went 9-1 with a 3.05 earned-run average in 65 innings of work.

Heitmann earned all-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors in 2015 and was a two-time MIAC baseball player of the week that season as the Royals won the conference regular-season title.
