Beacons blanked in the first round

Not much went right for the Concordia Academy football team in its playoff opener last week. The Beacons gave up three first-quarter touchdowns and the ensuing two-point conversions and went on to lose 44-0 to Spectrum.

Spectrum tacked on another score in the second quarter and added two more touchdowns in the third. Most of the damage the Sting did came on the ground as they racked up 369 rushing yards. Two different Spectrum backs ran for 130 and 159 yards.

With the loss, Concordia finishes the season with a record of 1-8. The one victory was a 20-16 win over Spectrum in week one.

The Raiders opened the post-season on Oct. 28, past the deadline for this edition of the Review.

Seventh-seeded Roseville’s first-round opponent was Maple Grove, the No. 2 seed. The winner advanced to the second round on Nov. 4 against either third-seeded Eastview or sixth-seeded Edina.
