Vehicle crashes through brick wall of North St. Paul business

According to office manager Caroline Claussen, the North St. Paul Chiropractic office had to be aired out because the electrical panel was sparking and smoking after being damaged in the crash.

The morning after the crash, the garage behind the chiropractic office was boarded up, and the mangled garage door could still be seen off to the side.

The North St. Paul police and fire departments were on scene shortly after a vehicle crashed through the back of the North St. Paul Chiropractic building April 24.

The North St. Paul Chiropractic office located in the 2500 block of East Seventh Avenue was damaged when a driver crashed through the back of the building around 4:45 p.m. on April 24.

According to North St. Paul Fire Chief Scott Duddeck, the driver went through the closed garage door behind the chiropractic office and through the brick wall that the garage shares with the office building. The back of the building is an alleyway/parking lot shared with nearby apartments.

“We were lucky that the doctor was on vacation,” said Caroline Claussen, the chiropractic office manager, in reference to Dr. Daniel Peterson and Dr. Richelle Peterson who regularly use the rooms on the south side of the building where the incident occurred.

According to Claussen, only two staff and one client were in the building when the female driver crashed into the building, and none of the three inside the building was injured. However, she said the electrical panel and water main were damaged.

Claussen explained the business is still serving its regular number of clients, though the doctors are only able to use half of the regular space until renovations are completed.

According to Duddeck, police are still investigating the crash. North St. Paul police did not respond to requests for comments before the deadline for this edition of the Review. There was at least one ambulance at the scene though it’s unclear if the woman driving the vehicle was injured.
