Maplewood residents joined some 400 youth and public health advocates on Feb. 27 at the State Capitol to urge legislators to pass policies to reduce youth tobacco addiction. Rallying with the Minnesotans for a Smoke-Free Generation were students from John Glenn Middle School and Harambee Elementary School, both in Maplewood, and North High School in North St. Paul. The group met with District 43 state Sen. Chuck Wiger, state House District 43A Rep. Peter Fischer and District 43B Rep. Leon Lillie. Pictured above left is Wiger, surrounded by students. Pictured right is Audrey Stepan, Cassandra Stepan, JaLaila Stuckey and Morgan Coleman, members of a Girl Scout troop at Harambee, with Lillie.
