NEWSBRIEF: Apply for West St. Paul Teen Citizen Academy

The West St. Paul Teen Citizen Academy is a free, six-week program open to high school students who live or go to school in West St. Paul or attend Henry Sibley. Snacks are provided. Each week a new topic is covered to give teens a hands-on law enforcement experience. Applicants will need to pass a background check and be deemed eligible by the West St. Paul Police Department to participate. This is free and open to teens ages 16 to 18. It will run from April 3 to May 4 on Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m.

Topics covered include:
• Week 1 – Intro / Patrol Functions 
• Week 2 – Family Violence, Investigations and Crime Scenes 
• Week 3 – DWI and Safe Driving 
• Week 4 – Field Trip 
• Week 5 – Use of Force / SWAT 
• Week 6 – Graduation, May 4 at 10 a.m.
