Concert in the park

Acoustic cover group Matt & Laurel will play from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 15 at Casey Lake Park, located at 2101 17th Ave. E. The event is free.


Spaghetti dinner and silent auction benefit

Faith Christian Reformed Church will be hosting a fundraiser to help cover treatment of chronic Lyme disease for North St. Paul resident Stephanie Jans-Brantner on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The church is located at 1600 Silver Lake Road NW in New Brighton. A silent auction will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. with dinner available from noon to 2 p.m. Guests can get spaghetti with meat or vegetarian sauce, garlic bread and salad. History Cruze 

Car Show

Every week in the summer, Seventh Avenue in downtown North St. Paul turns into “Fabulous Friday” featuring a classic car show, food and music. The event is from 6 to 10 p.m. Fridays in the summer. The History Cruzers are looking for “Yellow Shirt” volunteers, whether it be one day or every Friday. Call Paul Houliston at 651-210-9645 to volunteer. 



“Come one, come all.” North St. Paul High School’s class of 1954 is having their 65th class reunion on Thursday, Aug. 29. The reunion will be held at the American Legion’s Post 39 in North St. Paul, located at 2678 Seventh Ave. E. Organizers ask attendees to bring five dollars for pizza. No RSVPs are needed, and all classes who graduated from North St. Paul during that era are invited. There will also be a breakfast at Gorman’s Restaurant in Lake Elmo at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20. Gorman’s is located at 11011 Stillwater Blvd. N. Those who have questions can call Bruce or Babe Fisher at 651-777-4655.

The North St. Paul Class of 1969’s 50th reunion is on Thursday, Aug. 22 at 6 p.m. The event is at the Mermaid Event Center, located at 2200 Mounds View Blvd. in Mounds View. Visit northstpaul1969.com for more information and to register by Aug. 1. 

The 55th class reunion of the 1964 North St. Paul Polars is on Aug. 17 at the North St. Paul VFW. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. and advance registration is required. For more information, contact Angela (Goben) Sheedy at sheedyangela@gmail.com. The VFW is located at 2483 Seventh Ave. E.

North St. Paul High School’s class of 1979 is having its 40th class reunion on Saturday, Aug. 17 from 6:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Dugout Bar at 96 Mahtomedi Ave. in Mahtomedi. There is no cost to attend, but a cash bar and food are available to purchase. More information can be found at the Facebook page “Joe Polar.”  




Summer Music Series: The John Penny Trio

The jazz band will play Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Maplewood Library, located at 3025 Southlawn Dr. The performance will include a Q&A about jazz history and culture.


Elements of art

On Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., the Maplewood Ramsey County Library hosts a teen event mixing STEM with art. The program incorporates hands-on experimentation with color, light and shape and traditional visual art. The library is located at 3025 Southlawn Dr.


End of summer celebration 

The community is invited to gather with neighbors at Edgerton Park on Wednesday, Aug. 21 to cap off summer. The park, located at 2001 Edgerton St., will host festivities from 6 to 7:30 p.m.




Summer concert

“Sarah & Skip” will perform works of Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Faure and Schumann, along with original works, on Friday, Aug. 16 at 7 p.m. The concert is at Guardian Angels Catholic Community, located at 8260 Fourth St. N. The church’s summer concerts are funded by free-will offerings. 


Farmers market

Pick up fresh items from 2 to 6 p.m. every Wednesday at the weekly farmers market. The event will take place in the parking lot of Walton Park/Oakdale City Hall at 1584 Hadley Ave. N. every Wednesday until Oct. 2.


Summer concert

Hornucopia will perform at Walton Park on Wednesday, Aug. 14 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Hornucopia is a rock-era horns tribute. On Wednesday, Aug. 21, Elvis tribute Steve Marcio will play at the same time and place. Walton Park is located at 1584 Hadley Ave. N. The events are free. 


Movie in the park

Walton Park will host a viewing of the movie “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” at dusk on Friday, Aug. 16. Concessions open at 7 p.m. and the event is free. Walton Park is located at 1584 Hadley Ave. N.

Fitness hike

Anyone over the age of 13 can join a guided hiking group on a mixed-surface trail on Friday, Aug. 23 from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Lake Elmo Park Reserve’s Nordic Center. No reservation is required, but minors must be accompanied by an adult. Event coordinators ask participants to arrive 10 minutes early, bring water and wear hiking boots or shoes. Oak Park Heights


Corvette show

The 18th annual Corvettes at Stillwater show will come to Oak Park Heights on Saturday, Aug. 17 at Stillwater Motors, located at 5900 Stillwater Blvd. Attendees can visit the event between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. with a vehicle entrance fee of $15. The first 135 participants will get a free T-shirt, and a free shuttle to downtown Stillwater will be available. The event will also have charity raffle tickets and prizes.
