Sustainable Actions Fair

The Falcon Heights Environment Commission presents the second annual Sustainable Actions Fair on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Falcon Heights Community Park. QPR suicide prevention class in Roseville

QPR is a free, one-hour presentation sponsored by NAMI Minnesota, part of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, which covers the three steps anyone can learn to help prevent suicide: Question, Persuade and Refer. Just like CPR, QPR is an emergency response to someone in crisis and can save lives. QPR is the most widely taught gatekeeper training program in the U.S., and more than one million adults have been trained in classroom settings in more than 48 states. A QPR class will be offered on Monday, Sept. 9, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Roseville Library, 2180 Hamline Ave. N. Blood drive in New Brighton

The Red Cross is holding a blood drive on Wednesday, Sept. 11 from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the New Brighton Community Center, 400 10th St. NW in Room 224. Walk-ins are welcome and appreciated. Falcon Heights citywide garage sale

Attention fellow bargain-seekers and those looking to get rid of things around the house: Falcon Heights is organizing a citywide garage sale on Saturday, Sept. 14. The city will create a map with locations of garage sales. Register by Sept. 9 at www.falconheights.org or by calling City Hall at 651-792-7600 to have your sale included on the map.

 

Falcon Heights Fire Department open house

In recognition of National Fire Prevention Week, the Falcon Heights Fire Department is hosting an open house on Saturday, Oct. 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will include games, live-fire kitchen safety demonstrations, and an automobile extrication demonstration. Hands-only CPR training

The Roseville Fire Department will begin its fourth year of offering free hands-only CPR training in September. The hour-long classes are open to anyone in the community who would like to learn the life-saving skill. All are held at the Roseville Fire Station, 2701 Lexington Ave. Classes are planned for Sept. 18, Oct. 16, Nov. 20, Dec. 18, Jan. 15, Feb. 19, March 18, April 15 and May 20. 21st annual North Oaks Rummage Sale at Shoreview Arena 

One of the season’s biggest rummage sales will take place Saturday, Sept. 14, and Sunday, Sept. 15, at the Shoreview Ice Arena, 877 Highway 96. The event will run from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday. 

Early bird admission is available for $3 from 7 to 9 a.m. on Saturday; after that, the event is free. Many items go for half price on Sunday. 

The sale will feature furniture, art, clothing, accessories, books, toys, craft supplies, electronics, household items, sporting goods, luggage, tools and more. There will also be a special section featuring the best items from every department, as selected by event organizers. 

Proceeds from the sale will benefit the Children’s Hospital Association, helping patients and families at Children’s Minnesota. For more information go to www.northoaksrummagesale.org.
