NEWSBRIEF: Citizenship class in Mounds View

This fall, the Mounds View Adult Education Center is offering a free, eight-week citizenship class from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays. The class will run from Oct. 9 through Nov. 27, and participants are asked to register by Thursday, Oct. 3. 

The class will prepare students for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services interview. Participants will study early U.S. history, the Constitution and the government, with the main focus being on the 100 questions required for citizenship. USCIS documents will be provided, as well as assistance in completing forms, if needed. Students must be able to read and write as required for admission to the citizenship class.  

Benefits of citizenship include protection from deportation, citizenship for children, family reunification, eligibility for government jobs, freedom to travel and the ability to vote.
