Letter: Hidden Oaks Park

Hidden Oaks Park is a wonderful gem with a playground for younger kids and a beautiful soccer field. This is quickly changing.
Over the past five weeks some very stupid person(s) has been using the field to play with his/her truck. The beautiful soccer field is covered with circles and gouges from the tires of this idiot’s vehicle as he/she spinsthrough the turf throwing aside huge chunks of sod. Now there are large mudholes where children used to kick soccer balls.

Letter: Strong on safety, budget, service

“If you don’t feel safe, you have nothing” is a quote and decision making  guidepost that Char Samuelson, candidate for New Brighton City Council, has used in her seventeen years as a public servant for the citizens of New Brighton.

Letter: Say “no” to low road politics

New Brighton City Council candidates Mary Kunesh-Podein, Brian Strub, and Graeme Allen could be discomforted by the assertions of letter writer Courtney Morton (letter published 10/2/13), a zealous supporter of theirs.

Letter: Online fraud

I appreciated reading the eye-opening article by Minnesota Attorney General Lori Swanson about the risks of accidentally reaching a “look-alike website” while trying to access government services.

Letter: Impressed with school district

I’m the parent of two children who attend school in the Mounds View Public School district. From our family’s personal experience, I know that my kids spend their days at school learning and growing and I know they are receiving a quality education. At a recent PTA meeting, I heard a presentation from our school board members about the state of the district and I was really impressed with what I heard.

Letter: Invest in our schools

When I was asked to co-chair the Neighbors United campaign for this fall’s levy renewal for school funding, I didn’t hesitate to say yes. I see it as my chance to pay back Mounds View Public Schools for all of the good work they have done for my family and my community over the past 45 years.

Letter: Concerned citizen

The world is changing. Will New Brighton change with it? I have lived in New Brighton 6 years. In the last few, I have had the honor of meeting amazing people. The New Brighton I know is full of hard workers, teachers, farmers, librarians, chicken owners, police officers, church-goers, rooster keepers, republicans, democrats, bee keepers, gay people, straight people, and differently-abled people.
