Oakdale extinguishes Smokedale licence


file photo Following recommendations from the Oakdale Police Department, the Oakdale City Council denied renewing Smokedale Tobacco’s tobacco licence at its Oct. 23 meeting. The store, located in the 7100 block of 10th Street North, had long been under scrutiny from law enforcement.

At Oakdale's Oct. 9 city council meeting, Oakdale Police Chief William Sullivan said his department had "revealed a pattern" of unlawful business at Smokedale Tobacco.

Managing Oakdale’s deer population


file photo Oakdale employs a metro area bowhunting organziation to control its deer population when it gets too large. Hunts are planned in early November at varous sites in the city.

Deer can easily become overpopulated in the metro area, where natural predators no longer exist and hunting is limited or prohibited by local ordinance.

Henriksen Ace Hardware closes after 57 years

North St Paul breaks ground on 32-unit assisted living facility


Solomon Gustavo/Review City, county and state officials broke ground on a 32-unit Suite Living Care assisted living and memory care facility Oct. 25 at Commerce Park on 13th Avenue in North St. Paul. The $5 million to $6 million facility is slated to open in nine months.

North St. Paul city officials and others gathered Oct. 25 at Commerce Park on 13th Avenue for the groundbreaking of a 32-unit Suite Living Care assisted living and assisted care facility.

The Oakdale City Council unanimously passed its preliminary 2019 tax levy at its Sept. 11 meeting.

The preliminary tax levy establishes the maximum amount the city can levy in 2019, though the city still has time to reduce it.

Family-owned business buys out CVS in Oakdale
