Deloris Brelje

Deloris Louise (Kuntz) Brelje, age 80 years, 6 months and 27 days, from Sunrise Cottages Senior Living in Buffalo, and formerly of Aitkin, was called home by her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Dec. 2.

Deloris Louise (Kuntz) Brelje was born on May 5, 1932, in Camden Township, Minn. She was the daughter of Alfred and Edna (Feltman) Kuntz. Deloris was raised by Leland and Edna Berry. She was baptized as an infant, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 14, 1946, at the Evangelical & Reformed Church in Lester Prairie. Her confirmation verse was Ephesians 4:33. Deloris received her education at a country school.

Pastor Fisher at the Evangelical & Reformed Church in Lester Prairie united Deloris in marriage to Wesley Brelje on Oct. 5, 1952. Deloris and Wesley were always at each other's side. The couple made their home in Glencoe, Inver Grove Heights, Aitkin, and Clermont, Fla. Deloris and Wesley shared over 58 years of marriage until Wesley passed away on Dec. 28, 2010.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Deloris worked at the Armour Packing Company. Deloris enjoyed her lake home in Aitkin, hosting get-togethers, gardening, cooking, canning, playing bingo and going to auctions and flea markets. She also loved spending winters in Florida as well as eating out with friends. Deloris especially cherished the time spent with her family and friends.

When Deloris needed assistance with her daily care, she became a resident of Sunrise Cottages Senior Living in Buffalo.

Deloris was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Edna Kuntz; stepfather, Leland Berry; and daughter, Cheryl Kocherer.

Deloris is survived by her son, Kenneth Brelje of South St. Paul; son-in-saw, Roger Kocherer of Savage; grandsons, James Kocherer and his wife, Bridgette, of Big Lake, Michael Kocherer of Champlin; granddaughter, Heather Brelje of New Brighton; and great grandchildren, Madeline, Ethan and Kaylee Kocherer.

She is also survived by sisters, Betty Lou Rolf of Burnsville, Beverly Schiller and her husband, Don, of Lafayette, Colo.; sister-in-law, Stella Oelfke of Shakopee; brothers-in-law, Gerald Leske of Del Rey Beach, Fla., Delford Leske and his wife, Irene, of Winthrop; and special family friend, Marilyn Hoffies; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Dec. 10, at Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Lester Prairie, with Pastor Greg Loomis officiating. Interment was at the Lester Prairie City Cemetery in Lester Prairie. Congregational hymns were "Amazing Grace," "Go Tell It On The Mountain," and "How Great Thou Art." Casket Bearers were Jim and Michael Kocherer, Kenneth Brelje, Mark Oelfke, and Steve, Todd, and Jason Rolf. The family hosted a luncheon at One Eyed Willys following the committal service.
