Stargazing offered at Northeast Family YMCA

Meteorologist Mike Lynch will lead a stargazing lesson at the Northeast Family YMCA in White Bear Lake on Oct. 11 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the adjacent Lakewood Hills Park. Participants may learn about autumn constellations like the Big Bear, Cassiopeia, Pegasus, Perseus, Cygnus and his gang and some of the epic stories behind the constellations. Then they can use large reflecting telescopes, including a giant 20-inch reflector, and receive a package with user-friendly star maps, constellation chart maps and Web sites.

Everyone in the community is welcome. Adults pay $8, children pay $3, seniors and students pay $5, and a family ticket for two adults and two kids is $20. Call 777-8103 to register.
