SSP vets honored with music, flags

Military veterans raise American flags July 7 at South St. Paul High School as the Inver Hills Community Band performs "God Bless the USA." The concert, part of the "Sounds of South St. Paul" series, also included proclamations in honor of the Gallagher Hansen VFW Post #295 and Gallagher Hansen VFW Ladies' Auxiliary.


Mendota Dakota secure for now, prepare for homecoming
The Mendota-based Dakota community members have been able to secure their future in the small river town through October by means of fundraising and a new rent agreement. The financial breather will allow the community to enjoy its upcoming annual powwow as the homecoming it is supposed to be, rather than a goodbye.

Motorcyclist dies in Robert St. crash
The 21-year-old motorcyclist died July 23 after accelerating into the back of a vehicle at the intersection of South Robert Street and East Thompson Avenue. Authorities said David Garcia of Minneapolis was pronounced dead at Regions Hospital.

Judge denies Beecroft post-conviction hearing
A new trial request from Nicole Beecroft, the now 21-year-old convicted of first-degree murder for the death of her newborn baby in 2007, was denied July 20.
Washington County District Judge Mary E. Hannon, who presided over Beecroft's murder trial, handed down the order denying the motion for a new trial.

IGH presses pause on digital ads

Saying good-bye

In fact, many cancer patients struggle with how their disease will affect them financially. Often, the treatment is expensive, and their financial crunch can be compounded when they are too ill to work. At times, cancer patients must decide between buying food or buying medicine.

Motorcycle ride set to honor Officer Crittenden
A tribute to fallen North St. Paul police officer Richard Crittenden will be held May 8 with one of his favorite hobbies -- riding motorcycles.
The "1st Annual Critter's Memorial Ride and Concert" is being organized to raise money for the Richard S. Crittenden Sr. Memorial Fund.

Roseville to host Karen community forum
The Roseville Human Rights Commission, in conjunction with the Roseville Area Schools and the League of Women Voters, will host a community forum to educate residents about Karen refugees and to also welcome members of the Karen community to the area. The event will be held May 8 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Roseville Lutheran Church, 1215 Roselawn Avenue, in Roseville.
