North St. Paul parishioners form new business guild


Solomon Gustavo North St. Paul resident and former businessman Roger Vasko, who attends Church of St. Peter in North St. Paul, is the president of the new St. Joseph Business Guild. The association’s aim is to help Catholic businesses and families.

In the medieval age between the 5th and 15th centuries, Catholic craftspeople and merchants were part of a system of guilds.

Ads show new mobile home neighborhood at former Lowry Grove site


Matt Hudson The land formerly known as Lowry Grove pictured on April 8. Developer Brad Hoyt is advertising a new mobile home park less than two years after closing down the former park and vacating those who lived there.

Less than two years after the residents of the Lowry Grove mobile home park were forced out to make way for apartments, the site is now being advertised as a new mobile home park.

More East Side road projects planned for 2019


graphics courtesy of City of St. Paul Margaret Street is a bike boulevard, meaning the road is meant to be shared between cyclists and drivers without separate, marked bike lanes. Work along the street this year will include the installation of traffic circles and curb bump-outs to serve as traffic-calming features to slow down vehicles on the street.

The City of St. Paul has a number of construction projects it will be managing on the East Side this summer.

Midsummer in winter


The show must go on, and that’s just what happened for South St. Paul Theatre. Students performed “Midsummer 2019” April 11-14, just as a spring blizzard descended on the Twin Cities. The production, based on “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” brings together heroic figures from Greek mythology, mystical creatures from English folklore, young lovers from a Roman comedy and working class actors putting on a community theatre version of “Romeo and Juliet.” They all meet in the woods, where craziness ensues.
