A vegetarian mother has been jailed for life after her son’s death. What she was feeding him when he was only 18 months old

A Florida vegan mother has been sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder in the death of her 18-month-old son.

Sheila O’Leary, 38, was found guilty of what prosecutors said were “severe malnutrition and dehydration complications” after her son Ezra died in June. Fox News.

“This child is not eating. “She starved herself for 18 months,” Francine Donarommo, head of the Lee County State’s Attorney’s Office Special Victims Unit, told the inquest.

The child died on September 27, 2019. At that time, the police said that his weight was just 7.7 kilograms. In addition to the murder charge, O’Leary was convicted of two counts of aggravated child abuse, manslaughter, child abuse and child neglect.

Her husband, Ryan Patrick O’Leary, is awaiting trial on the same charges. Sheila and Ryan were both indicted by a grand jury in Lee County, Florida on December 18, 2019.

Sheila O’Leary said her family follows a strict diet of raw fruits and vegetables, although she and her husband told investigators that Ezra was breastfed.

Sheila O’Leary has three children, ages 11, 5 and 3. State Attorney Amira Fox’s office noted that they were “victims of severe child neglect and abuse” and that Sheila O’Leary was placed under a restraining order and would have no contact with them.
