during A recent conversation with ‘Desert Island Discs’ on BBC Radio 4The singer-songwriter said it felt like a “coincidence of a person for two months” after having to disappoint her fans.

“I just had to wait for her and grieve,” she said. “I think just grieving the shows and overcoming the guilt, but it was brutal.”

Crying, Adele announced the cancellation announcement in January, a day before her eagerly awaited concerts began.

Now she says she “definitely felt everyone’s disappointment” and also felt “devastated” and “afraid of letting them down”.

“I thought I could put it together and make it work and I just couldn’t. I’m sticking with that decision,” Adele said. “I don’t think any other artist would have done what I did and I think that’s why it was such a huge, huge story.”

“I’m not going to do a show just because I have to, or because people are going to let down, or because we’re going to lose a lot of money,” she added.

Adele returned to the stage over the weekend to headline BST Hyde Park in London.
