Cannes Film Festival: See red carpet photos from the first week

CANNES, France (AP) — Hollywood royalty is back on the scene Cannes Film Festival For its annual celebration of cinema along the French Riviera.

The premieres bring an elegant display of stars every night and moments become indelible images from Cannes, whether it’s The return of Francis Ford Coppola To the Palais des Festivals or the French actress Judith Godrich and other actors standing with their hands over their mouths Drawing attention to the burgeoning #MeToo movement in France.

Daytime photo shoots can become playgrounds for stars and photographers alike, like when Nic Cage threw his hat while promoting “The Surfer.” (Hats were a favorite accessory this year, worn by Coppola and Giancarlo Esposito to the Megalopolis premiere; Meryl Streep, Winner of an honorary Palme d’OrShe chose one to take her photo.)

Filmmakers praise Cannes for the way it celebrates films and the global platform it provides. So it’s fitting that Coppola returns, 45 years after his hit film Apocalypse Now. During the festival, so did Paul Schrader, who wrote the 1976 Palme d’Or-winning film “Taxi Driver.”

Miller was too Vocal fan of Cannes Since he has worked as a jury member and used it to launch many films.

“I got hooked on it simply because it was like movie camp,” he says. “It’s a kind of perfect cinema, really.”

There is still another week to go.
