“I am deeply saddened to inform all the many, many people who loved her that Ivana Trump has passed away at her home in New York,” Donald Trump posted on the social networking site Truth Social.

The two married in 1977 and divorced in 1992. They had three children: Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric.

“Ivana Trump is a survivor. She left Communism and embraced this country. She taught her children courage and determination, compassion and determination,” the Trump family said in a statement quoted by ABC News. He grew up in the former Czechoslovakia under communism.

Neither the Trump family’s statement nor the former president’s post indicated a cause of death.

The New York Post, citing anonymous police sources, reported that he suffered a heart attack in his Manhattan apartment and died by the time paramedics arrived.

A former model who once trained for Czechoslovakia’s national junior ski team, Ivana Trump played a role in building Trump’s image in the 1980s, when she was one of New York’s most prominent couples.

Their divorce, which came after a highly publicized affair with Marla Maples, whom Donald Trump later married, was heavily publicized by the New York tabloids.

She worked with her husband on the development of Trump Tower, Trump’s iconic building on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan.

“Our mother was an incredible woman – a business force, a world-class athlete, a stunning beauty and a caring mother and friend,” the Trump family said in a statement.
