Dr. Dre He set his sights on a lucrative music deal, one that would sell the rights to some major royalties and recordings…and we’re told it was worth over $200 million.
The music mogul is close to selling some of his music assets in two separate deals… one with Shamrock Holdings, the other with Universal Music Group… according to painting.
A potential Shamrock deal looks something like this… Dre is selling his artist rights from two of his solo albums – his share of the N.W.A artist royalty, plus his producer royalties and the writer’s share of the music since he doesn’t own the copyright.
The potential deal with UMG is a little different… Dre sells the master recording for his debut solo album “The Chronic,” plus his share of some Kendrick Lamar Music.
Dre doesn’t sell all of his music… Billboard describes these transactions as mostly “passive income streams” that bring in about $10 million a year… And he doesn’t sell his interest in his record ownership, Aftermath.
Sources close to Dr. Dre told TMZ… the actual sale price is tens of millions of dollars higher than the $200 million figure.
Congratulations, Dre. 💸
