‘I lost that feeling of love’ legend died: Cynthia Weil was 82

Fans have not lost that feeling of love for her.

Legendary songwriter Cynthia Weil, the inspiration behind “I’ve Lost This Feeling In Love” and countless other songs, died Thursday night at the age of 82.

Will’s daughter Dr. Jane Man confirmed the death of the icon on the day Statement to TMZ.

“My mother, Cynthia Weil, was the greatest mother, grandmother, and wife our family could ever ask for,” she wrote. “She was my best friend, confidante, partner in crime, idol, and pioneer for women in music.”

To date, the cause of death has not been disclosed.

Born in 1940 in New York City, along with her husband and fellow songwriter, Will was responsible for writing some of the most iconic tunes from the 1960s through the 1990s.

Perhaps its most famous song is the Righteous Brothers’ 1964 hit “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling,” which is among the most played tunes of the 20th century with over 8 million “streams,” according to Music. BMI Rights Foundation.

The husband and wife composer team has composed many other famous songs during their six-decade career.

These included The Drifters and George Benson’s “On Broadway,” “Uptown” by The Crystals, “You’re My Soul and Inspiration” by the Righteous Brothers, and “We Gotta Get Out of This Place” by The Animals.

The Grammy winner and her husband, who have been married for 62 years, also penned “Here You Come Again” by Dolly Parton, helping the country icon achieve crossover success.

Other classic tracks include “Kicks” by Paul Revere and the Raiders, “Walking in the Rain” by the Ronettes, and “Through the Fire” by Chaka Khan. The latter was sampled by Kanye West for his debut single, “Through the Wire”.

Meanwhile, the singles written for Weil have reportedly sold an estimated 200 million albums.

Weil and Mann’s writing talents have transcended the career paths of famous singers.

The duo also penned the song “Somewhere Out There” from Steven Spielberg’s An American Tail, which earned them two Grammy Awards as well as an Oscar nod.

The Songwriting Dream Team also won the first-ever National Academy of Songwriters Award, and became the first recipients of the Ahmet Ertegun Award from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010. Will was the first woman to receive the honor, reported variety.

“From the bottom of my heart and with more humility, I thought you guys would never ask,” the humble songstress gushed upon receiving her accolades.

In her later years, Will turned to writing, most notably writing the 2015 novel I’m Glad I Did, a mystery set in 1963.

The family was devastated by the meteoric loss of talent, writing: “Grammy Award-winning Cynthia Weil’s words have touched the hearts and souls of hundreds of millions of people around the world, making her one of the most celebrated songwriters of the 20th century.”

Her husband, Barry Mann, added: “I’m a lucky man. I had two for one, my wife and one of the greatest songwriters in the world, my soul and my inspiration.”

Will is survived by her husband and daughter, Dr. Jane Mann, a psychiatrist, author and host of the VH1 series “Couple’s Therapy.”
