Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told Reuters on Wednesday that it was Ukraine’s job to resume grain exports by clearing landmines in ports.
Sergei Lavrov stressed that no action is required on the part of Russia because he has already made the necessary pledges.
“We declare on a daily basis that we are ready to ensure the safety of ships leaving Ukrainian ports and going to the Gulf (phosphorus), and we are prepared to do so in collaboration with our Turkish partners,” Lavrov said. Mevlut. Cavusoglu.
“To solve the problem, Ukrainians only need to evacuate ships from their ports, either by demining them or defining safe corridors. Otherwise, nothing is needed,” Lavrov added.
Ukraine is one of the world’s largest grain exporters, and Western nations have accused Russia of blocking Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea, which could put the world at risk of famine.
In particular, Moscow denies responsibility for the international food crisis and blames Western sanctions.
Lavrov, the main problem is that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zhelensky “refused to schedule” to solve the problem of the excavated ports.
“If they change their position now, there is no problem on our side. We will see how the preliminary agreements we discussed yesterday and today can come into force,” Lavrov added.
At a press conference with Mevlut Cavusoglu in Ankara, Lavrov said he appreciated Turkey’s efforts to find ways to resolve the situation.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in Turkey on Tuesday night to discuss the construction of sea routes to facilitate grain exports to the Black Sea.
The ongoing conflict on February 24, which blocked most of Ukraine’s exports via the Black Sea, has pushed up prices and put countries dependent on them, especially in Africa and the Middle East, at risk of severe famine.
At the request of the United Nations, Turkey assisted in the transportation of maritime convoys from Ukrainian ports, despite the presence of mines, some of which were found off the coast of Turkey in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
