King Philip VI hosts NATO summit

On Tuesday, President Glass Ihanis attended a dinner hosted by King Felipe VI and Queen Leticia in honor of the Heads of State and Heads of Government attending the NATO Summit in Madrid.

President Glass Ihanis will attend a meeting of heads of state and government of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in Madrid on Wednesday and Thursday.

On Wednesday, the head of state will attend the first formal meeting of the North Atlantic Council at the level of state and government leaders, focusing on Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, its consequences and continuing aid to Ukraine. It will be opened by the President of Ukraine via video conference system.

The meeting will discuss new strategic ideas and new measures for prevention and protection.

“Thus, following the outcome of the Extraordinary Summit of March 24, 2022, the revised NATO position will be outlined at the Madrid meeting, which will face unprecedented security challenges, including in the East,” NATO and NATO said in a statement to AGERPRES.

On Wednesday, President Klaus Iohanis will attend the second formal meeting of the North Atlantic Council at the state and government heads’ level, with the participation of heads of state and government of Australia, Finland, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and new heads of state. Sealand, Sweden, Georgia and heads of the Council of Europe and the European Commission.

Leaders of NATO member states will discuss global challenges and threats with stakeholders, with a view to maintaining and strengthening the international order based on the determination of dictatorial actors and their general position on them.

On Thursday, Romania’s president will attend the third meeting of the North Atlantic Council at the level of state and government leaders dedicated to the challenges and threats surrounding the South, and will talk about progress in the fight against terrorism and food. Security and Response Opportunities for Allied Support for Other Challenges Coming from the Coalition’s Southern Environment, as well as the Security Capabilities of the Southern Allies.
