The Russian campaign poses new threats against NATO. Russian parliamentarian Alexei Zhuravlyov, deputy chairman of the State Duma’s Security Council, has commented on the possibility of Finland and Sweden joining the North Atlantic Coalition, threatening a renewed nuclear war.
“Swedes and the Finns need to understand one thing: we will fight them directly only if we go to war with NATO. If we go to war with NATO, the war will be not with drones, but with nuclear weapons,” he told Rosia-1 television, as well as Ukraine’s interior adviser Anton Groshenko on Twitter.
“It does not matter to us how many countries we have destroyed – 28 or 32. They need to understand this clearly. We have enough (weapons) for them, we have enough for everything, “Zhuravlyov said.
He argued that Finland, with a population of 5.5 million and unlike the United States, which has a population of more than 300 million, had “theoretically, anyone can survive” and “no chance” of surviving a nuclear war.
Deputy Finns said they were “Nazis” because “they recently removed the swastika from the Air Force logo”.
The report comes after Finland and Sweden officially submitted a request to abandon their alliance policy due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and join NATO.
