Richard Lewis ‘done standing’ amid Parkinson’s disease

(CNN) For those wondering where he’s been in the past few years, Richard Lewis has an answer.

Comedian, Actor and Writer Posting Sunday’s video on social media Celebrating the completion of filming the twelfth season of Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, which Lewis described as an “amazing season.”

More than three years ago, Lewis said, people were wondering where he was. The actor said that the time was “difficult” for him. He’s had surgeries on his shoulder, back, and hips, and is dealing with another health issue.

“Two years ago I started walking a little jerkily, I was shuffling my feet and I went to a neurologist and he did a brain scan and I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s,” Lewis, 75, said in his video. “Luckily, I’m late in my life. And they say you’re getting too slow, that’s after all. And I’m at the right level, so I’m cool.”

Lewis said he was “done with stand-up”, and instead “focused on writing and acting”. He added that he is happy and doing well.

According to Mayo Clinic, Parkinson’s disease “is a progressive disorder that affects the nervous system and the parts of the body that are controlled by nerves.”

Among other celebrities who also suffer from Parkinson’s disease Singer Neil Diamond and actor Michael J. Fox.
