Video game products are rarely great. You’d be hard-pressed to find wearable items worthy of anywhere other than the gym, or household items that you can display in your mid-century modern living room. They’re also rarely inspired or unique—my closet is full of little pieces Call of duty coffee mugs, my storage bin overflowing with cheap T-shirts, my couch beer always dipped in my trademark koozie.
High-flyers are loud, wildly patterned, or just plain ugly, with an obvious dislike for subtlety. Much like How top gaming executives have historically dressed at The Game Awardsa gaming commodity often looks like a cheap buck – a picture of an iron-on Pikachu in a roughly woven shirt or a photo collage Super Mario Figures crowded together on a canvas pair. It gives a hot topic.
But recently, as the gaming community has expanded and raised more diverse voices (including those who love fashion), we’ve seen the rise of some pretty cool gaming products. There’s inspiration in these items, whether it’s cool vinyl, a cute pair of kicks, or a stylish gaming chair. Here are the coolest video game pieces we’ve seen this year.
