On Monday, despite increasing weakness, he expressed his struggle in court.

“Being imprisoned will not break me. I will actively participate in Georgian politics,” he said.

Georgian authorities say Mikheil Saakashvili is receiving all the medical treatment he needs at a prison hospital.

However, many doctors who have examined Mikheil Saakashvili in recent months, including American experts, have expressed concern about his deteriorating health.

The NGO Amnesty International characterized the treatment meted out to Mikheil Saakashvili as “blatant political retaliation”.

Ukraine invited Georgian ambassador to MFA

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba criticized the actions of the Georgian authorities regarding the Ukrainian citizen and announced the summons of the Georgian ambassador to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ukrainian Pravda.

At today’s hearing, the head of the Foreign Ministry explained that “everything has reached a boiling point” after footage of Saakashvili appearing severely malnourished and exhausted, prompting Kiev to take “a drastic but correct measure”.

“When the government is dissatisfied with something, the first level of reaction is to express opposition. The second level of reaction is to recall its ambassador for advice,” Kuleba said.

According to Kuleba, the Georgian authorities “really want (Saakashvili) dead” out of personal hatred and revenge.

In his late-night video message, Zelensky called on Georgian authorities to allow Mikheil Saakashvili to come to Kiev for medical treatment, Reuters reported.
