ABC Sells Out of 2023 Oscars Ad Stock – The Hollywood Reporter

The Oscars are officially sold out… from the advertising venues.

Disney said on Friday that Sunday’s 95th Academy Awards ceremony has officially run out of stock from a wide range of brands and advertisers. As one would expect, the entertainment industry and related fields are well represented.

Sponsors this year include Hulu and Disney-owned Walt Disney Motion Pictures, as well as Universal, Sony and Warner Bros. And Amazon, Snapchat, and Paramount+. Other advertiser mainstays include Allstate, TurboTax, Hyundai, Starbucks, and Volvo.

“Proud Sponsors” (actually title sponsors) are Pfizer, Rolex, and Verizon.

The Academy Awards are such an important piece of the advertising puzzle for Disney that the awards show (despite ratings challenges in recent years) remains one of the few programs that can get widespread exposure on live television. They are seen as particularly important to studios, who use the software to promote their upcoming films to movie fans.

In 2022, the only non-sporting events to top Nielsen’s Top 100 list are the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and the Academy Awards.

And while the advertising market remains tough, the Oscars appear to be resilient.

Prices for 30 seconds of the site this year sold for between $1.6 and $2.1 million, a source familiar with the matter said, down from a peak of $2.2 million last year. However, they did point out that most of the Oscars locations were sold out in advance this year, rather than in the sparse market.
