The Cannes Film Festival hosted the world premiere of the film Major citiesthe latest film from director Francis Ford Coppola. This star-studded lineup marks Coppola’s return to the Croisette, where he previously staged both shows Apocalypse now (1979) and Conversation (1974), winning the prestigious Palme d’Or for each film.

Coppola was joined by the film’s stars, including Adam Driver, Shia LaBeouf, Aubrey Plaza, Laurence Fishburne, Grace van der Waals, Chloe Fineman and Giancarlo Esposito, who all walked the red carpet at the Lumiere Grand Theater on Thursday, May 16.

Other guests attending the ceremony included jury members Omar Sy, Nadine Labaki, jury chair Greta Gerwig, Teyana Taylor, Zaho De Sagazan, Sergey Loznitsa, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Yseult and Irene Jacob.

Major cities It is an epic Roman tale set in an imagined modern America. The new city of Rome must change, causing a conflict between Cesare Catiline (Driver), a genius artist seeking to leap into an idealized, utopian future, and his opponent, Mayor Franklin Cicero (Esposito), who remains committed to the regressive status quo. And the perpetuation of greed, special interests and partisan warfare. Torn between them is Julia Cicero (Emmanuel), the mayor’s daughter, whose love for Cesare divides her loyalties, forcing her to discover what she truly believes humanity deserves.

It features a large cast that includes Adam Driver, Giancarlo Esposito, Nathalie Emmanuel, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne, Talia Shire, Katherine Hunter, Grace VanderWaal, Chloe Fineman, DB Sweeney, and Dustin Hoffman.
