Russia announced on Friday that it would ban 500 Americans, including former President Barack Obama, from entering its territory in retaliation for Washington’s sanctions, AFP reported.

“Entry into the Russian Federation has been closed to 500 Americans in response to continued anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the Biden administration,” the Russian Foreign Ministry pointed out, including Barack Obama on the list. .

Russia’s announcement comes as the United States on Friday blacklisted “more than 300” individuals, companies, ships and aircraft from Europe, the Middle East and Asia, according to the Treasury and State Departments.

“Washington should have known long ago that any hostile action against Russia will not go unanswered,” the Russian ministry said.

Among the people who are now banned from entering the territory of Russia are the anchors or moderators of several American television channels: Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel and Seth Meyers. Also Erin Burnett (CNN), Rachel Maddow and Joe Scarborough (MSNBC).

Russia said it was blacklisting members of the US Congress, research institutes “engaged in disseminating Russophobic attitudes and disinformation” and officials from companies “providing weapons to Ukraine”.
