Chairman of the FX Board of Directors, President of ABC Programming Expand Roles – Miscellaneous

FX President John Landgraf and ABC Programming Chief Simran Sethi will expand their duties under an executive shake-up in Disney’s TV operations, one of the first big moves under Dana Walden, who was put in charge of the company’s television networks after Bob Iger returned as Disney CEO.

Landgraf will oversee National Geographic as well as the Onyx Collective, a production unit dedicated to projects from communities of color and underrepresented groups. Meanwhile, Sethi will oversee programming and development for both ABC and Freeform. She will continue to report to Craig Erich, Group President, Disney Television.

The moves come as Tara Duncan, who has overseen programming for both the Onyx Collective and Freeform, will dedicate her attention solely to Onyx, freeing up programming duties for Sethi, formerly of the cable network.

Duncan and Courteney Monroe, who oversee Nat Geo, will report to Landgraf.

After Iger returned to Disney in a shock shakeup, Walden, who was promoted last year to chairman of Disney’s General Entertainment Content Board, and Alan Bergman, a film veteran who previously served as Disney Studios’ chief content officer, have been given joint oversight of the film and TV content production operations. The company’s global portfolio, which includes Marvel Studios, Pixar, Disney+, Hulu, ABC, Disney Channel and other entertainment-related assets.

Walden keeps the bulk of its executive team intact. Debra O’Connell will continue to oversee ABC-owned television networks and stations, and will add research, labor relations and television commercial operations to her remit. Disney Television Studios will remain under the direction of Eric Scherer, who will expand his responsibilities to include global original television strategy.

“Great stories are the lifeblood of our company, and I will remain closely connected to the creative side of our business,” Walden said in a prepared statement. “As we begin our new chapter together, I have absolute faith in this team of proven, successful and wonderful leaders. I am so grateful to Bob for reuniting and realigning our company in such a meaningful way.”
