Forget the Ultra, Samsung is working on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim

Here’s something that’s completely out of left field: Samsung is reportedly making the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim that will launch in the last quarter (October-December) of the year.

We’ve known about a potential Ultra version of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 for some time, but this is the first time we’ve heard of a Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim. This information comes from Industry insider and analyst Ross Youngwho revealed that the Slim model may have a larger screen than the standard Galaxy Z Fold 6 and may lack S Pen support.

Story continues after our video review of the Galaxy S24 Ultra cameras

Young did not go into further details, other than to say that they would reveal the dimensions of the device’s internal and external screens in an upcoming report. But we can assume that the Z Fold 6 Slim may be Samsung’s answer to competing foldable devices from Chinese manufacturers, many of which have larger foldable screens and are much thinner than Samsung’s offerings.

Could the Slim model be the equivalent of Samsung Galaxy S Plus smartphones?

It’s unclear what the Slim means for the Z Fold 6 Ultra. According to Young, the Slim model could be priced similarly to the regular Galaxy Z Fold 6, so it could fall between the regular and Ultra models like the Plus model of Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S phones.

However, it remains to be seen how widely the Slim will be available. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra is currently expected to launch only in Samsung’s home country, and the same may apply to the Fold 6 Slim.

Of course, it also remains to be seen whether or not such a slim model exists. Young has a good track record of rumors about upcoming Samsung devices, but since this is the first time we’ve heard about the Fold 6 Slim, we’ll have to remain skeptical until more information and evidence comes along.
