Future plans for Harley Davidson’s Milwaukee headquarters could include Highland Park

The future of Harley Davidson’s Milwaukee headquarters could lead to some upgrades to Milwaukee County Park, and on Saturday a public meeting of people to comment on the future of Highland Park was held near 38th Street and Highland Avenue in Milwaukee. Facelift thanks to the Harley Davidson Foundation. Highland Park is located next to Harley Davidson’s headquarters in Milwaukee. According to the proposal, the Harley Davidson Foundation will invest $250,000 to make improvements, maintain maintenance over the next 10 years, and rename the park Harley Park. This will then become part of the Hub. “The hub is a Harley Davidson redevelopment of the parking lot and old headquarters property,” says Superintendent Peter Borgelis, Milwaukee County 15. The Hub is a planned public park with mixed-use event space for the community. The current area is “a bit disjointed, so if there’s a way we can enhance that green space, we’d love to do it,” says Joey Smith, executive director of Milwaukee County Parks. Smith says some ideas will be discussed for the park’s future by adding outdoor pavilions for picnics and benches and, most importantly, ensuring ADA accessibility. In the discussion stage any changes to the park or change in name require approval from the Milwaukee County Council.

The park could get a face-lift thanks to the Harley-Davidson Foundation.

Highland Park is adjacent to Harley-Davidson’s headquarters in Milwaukee. According to the proposal, the Harley Davidson Foundation will invest $250,000 to make improvements, maintain maintenance over the next 10 years, and rename the park Harley Park. This will then become part of the Hub.

Some of the ideas being discussed for the park’s future, Smith says, would be adding outdoor pavilions for picnics and benches and, most importantly, making sure they would be ADA accessible.

Groundbreaking for the hub is expected in the next few months with the future of the park in the discussion stage.

Any park changes or name changes require approval from the Milwaukee County Council.
