John Travolta posts an appreciation for his friend Bruce Willis after he was diagnosed with aphasia

John Travolta has paid tribute to his friend and former co-star Bruce Willis after the actor was diagnosed with aphasia.

Travolta, 68, who starred in Pulp Fiction and rom com Look Who’s Talking with Willis, 67, praised the “gracious spirit” in an Instagram post on Thursday.

John began in an Instagram post: “Bruce and I became good friends when we shared 2 of our biggest songs together, Pulp Fiction and Look Who’s Talking.” Years later he said to me, “John, I just want you to know that when something good happens to you I feel like it’s happening to me.” This is how generous the soul is. I love you, Bruce.

The post contained two photos of the actors together, including one dressed in black standing with Willis’ arm around John’s shoulder.

Travolta and Willis recently reunited in the upcoming movie Paradise City, which was filmed in Maui last May, according to Los Angeles Times.

“He’s been excited to work with John Travolta, and you can see that old Bruce Willis charm is still there,” film director Chuck Russell told the site in an article detailing how his cognitive decline has affected his film career in recent years.

“He really brought up his A game, and we made sure he and John had a great experience filming together.”

Several stars Willis sent their love on Twitter in the wake of the diagnosis, including Sylvester Stallone, Sarah Paulson, director Len Wiseman and Jenna Dewan.

Willis’ devastating diagnosis was revealed in a statement posted by his family, including ex-wife Demi Moore and their three daughters, on Instagram on Wednesday.

They wrote: “To the amazing Bruce fans, we as a family wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has some health issues and was recently diagnosed with aphasia, which affects his cognitive abilities.

“As a result of this and with a lot of attention, Bruce is walking away from a career that meant so much to him.”

The statement added: “This is a challenging time for our family and we deeply appreciate your continued love, sympathy and support. We’re moving through this as a strong family unit, and we wanted to attract his fans because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him.

‘As Bruce always says, ‘live it’ and together we plan to do just that,’ concluded the statement, signed by his wife, model Emma Heming Willis, ex-wife Demi and all of his children.

According to the National Aphasia Association, aphasia is a impairment of language, which affects the production or understanding of speech and the ability to read or write.

The association notes that the condition is almost always due to brain injury, most commonly stroke, especially in the elderly.

Head trauma, brain tumors, or infections can also cause aphasia.
