New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom moved from IL for 10 days to IL for 60 days

Washington – Twice Cy Young Award Winner Jacob Degrom He was moved to the injured 60-day roster by the New York Mets on Tuesday in a procedural move that doesn’t necessarily indicate any news about his progression back from a stress reaction on his right shoulder.

Degrom has not played this season and was expected to be sidelined at least until June. With a right-hand turn from IL for 10 days, the leading Mets of NL East made a place on their 40-player roster for Locke St. John, who has been waived by the Chicago Cubs.

Speaking to reporters before Tuesday night’s game at the Washington Nationals, New York manager Buck Showalter will not provide any details about where things are with deGrom. He entered the injured list on opening day, April 7, after being injured late in spring training.

“Everything is going well,” Showalter, in his first year with the Mets, said. “I’m going to stay away from the doctor and coach work, but it’s where it’s supposed to be.” “I wouldn’t say ‘ahead of us’ or ‘behind’, but they like the way it’s progressing.”

On April 25, the Mets said Degrom had undergone an MRI and CT scan that showed the injury was recovering and more tests would be done in May.

DeGrom won the 2018 and 2019 NL Cy Young Awards.

The 29-year-old was appointed to the task by the Cubs a week ago after appearing in one game for them this season. He made seven appearances with the Texas Rangers in 2019.
