New satellite images released by US company Maxar show the condition of buildings before and after the siege of the city of Bahmut in Ukraine’s Donetsk region.
The first image posted by Maxar on its Twitter account shows the state of Bahmuth before August 1, 2022. The second image shows part of the city after January 4, 2023, revealing extensive damage to buildings and infrastructure.
The Battle of Bahmuth has been going on for more than five months as Russian forces fire cannons relentlessly in an attempt to capture the city. Both Ukrainian and Russian forces suffered heavy losses, but the city remained Ukraine’s main stronghold in the Donetsk region.
