In explaining the need for the so-called “Web5,” Dorsey specifically referred to Web3’s current reliance on single-point-of-failure blockchains, such as Ethereum and Solana. But he misspelled Solana as “Solano.”
It is based on one point of failure systems (eth, solano, *) and the lies people are told about who owns and controls them.
Maybe an innocent mistake? Or a schoolyard tactic to insult an enemy whose name you don’t have time to remember?
Either way, Solana couldn’t miss the opportunity to turn the call into a viral moment.
Shortly after Dorsey’s tweet on Friday, Solana changed her Twitter show name to Solano. Crypto Twitter soon took over the chain’s embrace in opposition to Dorsey, with many now calling it “Solano” to continue the joke.
