During the spectacular night, World of Color – ONE tells a powerful story of how a single event – like a drop of water – creates a ripple that can transform into a wave of change. It’s amazing you have to believe it, now it works nights (weather permitting!) nearby The Avengers campus. In celebration of the new show, Disney Live Entertainment producer Jennifer Magill spoke about bringing the Avengers to World of Color – ONE.

This is the first time the Avengers have appeared in Amazing Night. What is it like to see it come to life like never before – especially in this world of color setting?

I’m a huge fan of the Avengers, and was thrilled that they’re joining our awesome night group. The way we tell stories in World of Color – ONE is a perfect fit for the Avengers and brings those moments to life as only the Avengers do.

When it comes to incorporating these superheroes into World of Color, where do you begin? Is it of a specific theme, feeling, or even a specific moment that you want to include?

For World of Color – ONE, the Avengers were a natural fit for the story we’re telling. The whole concept of “Avengers Assemble” is, in a way, the crux of our show’s theme. A single drop can create a ripple, and the power of many drops can create a wave of change.

The Avengers now spans 30 different movies, how do you whittle down some of the most iconic moments to fit them into a single clip?

That was no small challenge! While the team was reviewing the Avenger movie catalog, there was a lot of passionate discussion about favorite moments and characters. In the end, I think the moments we’ve chosen help tell the story.

The clip is inspired by the end credits of both Black Panther And hook. Can you talk about the influences there, and how they were adapted to the world of color?

For dynamic heroes like the Avengers, we really wanted a unique and fun way to bring their lives to life. During our trip, the team started looking for several end credits because they are always so unique and fun for the movies. When we looked at Black Panther and Hawkeye we were excited to see how it would translate to “World of Color – ONE”, once we tested it we knew this was the way to go.

Do you have a favorite moment?

Oh, that’s a tough question! As I watch the show, there are so many moments that touch my heart. One of the things that always gives me goosebumps is when Sam Wilson says “on your left” at the top of the Avengers series. It’s a simple one-liner, but it conveys a lot of showmanship.

From the teaser preview, it appears the Avengers appear through portals, much like the iconic scene in Avengers: Endgame. It’s an emotional moment in the movie, and it will undoubtedly be one in World of Color, too. What is it like to bring this moment to guests who visit the parks, especially given how immersive the moment is while watching the show?

As we worked out how to introduce the Avengers division, we quickly realized that portals were iconic doorways and something we could translate to our world perfectly. Our design team had a lot of fun using lighting, lasers, and fountains in new ways to present the Avenger heroes. After all these years of World of Color, I am still amazed at how much creativity and passion the team has to bring new stories to life in new ways.
