The release date for “28 Years Later” is June 2025

Danny Boyle’s “28 Years Later” is set to hit the big screen next summer. Sony Pictures has set the long-awaited project for a June 20, 2025 release date.

Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Ralph Fiennes are set to star in the sequels to “28 Days Later” and “28 Weeks Later.”

Plot details are still under wraps from the new screenplay written by Alex Garland. It will be part of an upcoming trilogy, with Nia DaCosta in talks to direct the second film.

Boyle and Garland are producing, as are original producers Andrew MacDonald and Peter Rice. Bernie Bello is also producing. Cillian Murphy also returns as an executive producer, but is not currently attached to star.

“28 Days Later” was released in 2002 and starred a largely unknown Murphy as a bike courier who discovers the release of an infectious virus upon waking from a coma. Boyle directed the film while Garland wrote. The second part, “28 Weeks Later,” was released in 2007.

“I’ve always said I’d love to be involved because this film changed everything for me and I have great affection for it and for these guys Alex [Garland] And Danny [Boyle]Murphy said diverse In February. “I never watch my movies, except for this one. It always comes out around Halloween and during the pandemic people were constantly sending me clips. I’ve shown that to my kids. And it’s really held up, even though she’s almost 23 now.
