Ukrainian professor goes viral after teaching from the trenches, announced as ambassador-at-large for Hungary

After the start of the large-scale invasion of Russia, Sandor went to the front as a volunteer, and in the intervals between combat duties he gave lectures to students.

The teacher teaches sociology, philosophy of religion and tourism. He is the head of the Tourism Organization of Transcarpathia region.

While other players rested, he held classes, the teacher explained in an interview with Libertatia. On the first day of peace, Sandor testified, “I would shave my beard, then I would go out and have a coffee and enjoy life around me.”

The fact that President Volodymyr Zelensky is considering the possibility of appointing Fedor Sandor as ambassador to Ukraine was first reported by Hungarian journalist Szabolch Bani from investigative portal Direkt36. However, the journalist noted that the final decision is yet to be taken.

That Sandor may be appointed ambassador to Budapest has been confirmed by diplomatic sources in Hetty Vilakastásák.

Marija Mesencheva, a Ukrainian parliamentarian active in European integration issues and a Ukrainian member of the Council of Europe’s Parliamentary Assembly, confirmed that “the new ambassador has Hungarian roots and is a graduate in social sciences,” without naming names.

They are not primarily looking for a diplomat, but “someone who has good linguistic and cultural ties with Hungary, good professional training and can conduct negotiations,” the official said.

“Portrait” applies to Fedir Şandor. A decision will be made soon by Kiev.

Sandor was instrumental in collecting millions of forints for the soldiers fighting in the Subcarpathian Battalion so that they would benefit from proper equipment and weapons at the front.
