Cody Rhodes may not be returning to WWE after all. As noted on Saturday, Kodi’s status changed and the creators were told about this on Friday. At this point, there was no contract.
On Wrestling Observer Radio today, Dave Meltzer I talked about Rhodes’ condition and it seems Rhodes has other ideas about returning to WWE.
His situation has changed in theory,” Meltzer said. “He was on the books in WWE. They came up with creative ideas for him. They still think on Friday they had a creative plan for him and then it’s so uncertain now. They don’t know what’s going on with Cody Rhodes. They’re not sure. We’ll have to wait to see how.” It’s going to happen. He’s up in the air. They don’t know. They thought they had him. It’s not like he’s dead, it’s not like they think they’re not with him but they’re not sure. So, that’s the situation with Cody.”
Meltzer also referred to speculation that Rhodes may be working with Tony Khan again as part of Khan’s ring of honor.
“Everyone in the world thinks Cody runs Ring of Honor or something,” Meltzer stated. “I suppose there is a way to do this angle and everything like that, you know? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how it all goes.”
Two weeks ago, there were subtle references to Cody in clips involving The Miz and Edge. Cody has not been referenced since that time.
