Hundreds of Chicago youths wreaked havoc on the city’s streets, destroying cars and shops and attacking tourists. Actions will be the result of a new movement born in social networks to us: “Teen Takeover”.
In published images Fox 32 Groups of youths can be seen smashing car windows as they are dispersed by the police.
According to Fox News, large groups of youths were seen playing music on portable speakers in front of cars, and some youths tried to enter Millennium Park, which is open to those under 21 after certain hours, and the Art Institute of Downtown.
Some of the youths in the group jumped on the cars, smashed the windows and assaulted the occupants. A woman told Fox 32 that her husband, who was driving, was attacked after a group of teenagers jumped on the car’s windshield. The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Hundreds of police officers, aided by SWAT teams, rushed into the city center in an attempt to restore order after multiple gunshots were heard.
Police were seen escorting terrified tourists back to their cars or hotels to escape the chaos, and traffic was halted on Michigan Avenue in Chicago as they tried to restore traffic order.
A 6-year-old boy was shot in the arm and a 17-year-old boy was shot in the leg near the Chicago Loop, police say. Both were taken to Northwestern Hospital in critical condition.
