At least one person was killed and four others wounded in an attack in the center of Tel Aviv on Friday evening, according to an updated toll by Israeli rescuers.
Magen David Adom (MDA), the counterpart of the Israeli Red Cross, said in a brief statement earlier that it was caring for two people after the armed attack in Tel Aviv.
According to MDA, “terrorist neutralized”
The deceased was in his 30s and the four injured, two of whom were in critical condition, were evacuated to hospitals in the Tel Aviv region, MDA said.
The Israeli press reports that a man driving a car opened fire on pedestrians on the sidewalk. He then tries to run him over in his car, but the wrong maneuver causes the car to overturn.
The man managed to get out, but his gun jammed when he tried to fire at the police, who killed him on the spot.
This is the latest episode in the escalation of violence in the region over the past week. It is about the tensions at Al-Aqsa Mosque, the killing of two Israelis, the bombings in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon. These were in response to provocations by Palestinian groups.
More than 30 rockets were fired from southern Lebanon in the most intense attack in 17 years.
