Today, Apple released new firmware designed for the MagSafe charger that is compatible with iPhone 12 and later, the latest AirPods, and Apple Watch models. The updated firmware is version 10M3761, up from the previous 10M1821 firmware. In the Settings app, you’ll see a different version number than the firmware number, with the update displayed as build 258.0.0 (the previous firmware was 255.0.0).
The MagSafe charger initially launched in fall 2020 alongside iPhone 12 models, and this is the fourth firmware update Apple has offered since the accessory was launched.
Since firmware updates are quietly released over the air, Apple doesn’t provide release notes. We don’t know what new features or bug fixes might be included in the software.
There is no obvious way to update the firmware of the “MagSafe” charger, but it must be plugged in and connected to an Apple device in order for the firmware update to begin. You can check the firmware of your MagSafe Charger by following the instructions on our MagSafe Charger.
