The Berlin government on Tuesday decided to suspend the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project connecting Russia and Germany in response to President Vladimir Putin’s decision to recognize the independence of the Ukrainian separatist regions of Lugansk and Donetsk.
“In light of the new developments, we need to reconsider the situation from the point of view of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines.
“Russia’s decision to send troops to Ukraine is a serious violation of international law.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday evening ordered the intervention of “peacekeeping missions” after the Russian military recognized the independence of the separatist regions of Lukansk and Donetsk.
