The International Football Confederation (FIFA) has suspended the Indian Football Federation with immediate effect due to interference by a third party in its operations, DPA said.
The FIFA Council “unanimously decided” to suspend the All India Football Federation (AIFF) from organizing the Under-17 Women’s World Cup scheduled between October 11 and 30.
FIFA has left a path to lifting the ban
“The suspension will be lifted after the order setting up the Board of Directors to carry out the work of the AIFF Executive Committee is rescinded and the AIFF management will regain full control over its day-to-day operations”According to a FIFA report.
FIFA is in talks with the Indian Ministry of Youth and Sports and is hoping for a quick resolution to allow India to host the Under-17 Women’s WC.
India’s Supreme Court dissolved the AIFF in May and appointed a three-member committee to amend the federation’s constitution and hold elections.
