Taylor Swift’s legendary Fourth of July parties are back — and so, too, is the iconic friendship between Swift and fellow pop star Selena Gomez.
in Instagram Posted on Friday, Swift wished fans a “belated Independence Day” along with adorable snaps of her partying with the celebrity squad that included Gomez, the Haim sisters (who opened for Swift on part of her tour), and Swift’s longtime friend and stylist Ashley Avignone.
One photo shows an affectionate hug between Swift and Gomez, while another shows the group in an apparent karaoke session.
“Happy belated Independence Day from the indie girls in your local neighborhood,” Swift captioned the photos.

Swift and Gomez’s friendship goes back years, and the couple has often spoken on social media and in interviews about their love for each other.
In a 2019 interview with Kiss UK FMGomez recounted the time she played “Lose You to Love Me” and “Look at Her Now” for her best music hits.
“It was one of the most amazing experiences because I’ve been friends with her for over a decade and I love her family too,” Gomez said. “I played it and she and her mother started crying and tears… It’s going to make me cry thinking about it, because it wasn’t just about how great the song was, so much came from it, it was just because they were on that journey with me, intimately.”
She continued, “They were crying about how proud they were to be entering a whole new era of my life, one that doesn’t involve terrible things, abuse, and emotional chaos. I just felt like I breathed a sigh of relief.”
Gomez’s “Lose You to Love Me” gives an emotional look at the singer closing the door on a relationship that left her traumatized, which many took as a nod to her past with ex Justin Bieber.
